The overall inspiration for Koukla Mou came from problems I face as a tall girl. Finding pants, dresses, and skirts specifically is so difficult and frustrating because they are never long enough and don’t fit quite right. This is why I want Koukla Mou to be for tall girls, however, I want it to be accessible for everyone, which is why we provide tailoring with no extra charge.

The name of my store, Koukla Mou, is Greek, meaning “my girlfriend” or “my doll.” It is something my Grandpa used to call my Nona, so it is an endearing phrase I grew up around. To me, it also represents femininity, beauty, and simplicity, which I want to be noted throughout the brand.

The last key point of inspiration behind Koukla Mou is New York. New York is so fashion-forward and sophisticated, so I wanted to include hints of New York throughout the brand. I wanted to make sure it wouldn’t be in your face, NYC, but instead the store has nods to New York architecture, culture, and colors.
